About the Author
Yilmaz Akyuz is Director (Officer-in-Charge) of the Division on Globalization and Development Strategies at UNCTAD. He is the principal author of and head of the team that prepares UNCTAD’s annual Trade and Development Reports, and is the UNCTAD coordinator of substantive support to the Group of 24 in the IMF and World Bank on International Monetary and Financial Issues.
Having taught and done research on macroeconomics, finance, the international monetary system, economic growth and development, he has written numerous articles in academic journals and books on these subjects, and books on “Money and Inflation in Turkey”, “Capital, Distribution and Growth”, “Macroeconomic Disequilibrium”, “Financial Structure and Flow of Funds”, and “East Asian Development”. He has acted as referee for various academic journals, and as the editor of UNCTAD Review and guest editor of Revue Tiers-Monde, Journal of Development Studies and Cambridge Journal of Economics.
